FIT 0/16 closes its 46th edition with a strong commitment of the industry

Koelnmesse introduced conceptual changes to further develop the industry’s leading business platform in Brazil for a bright future

FIT 0/16 - The International Trade show for Baby & Children Wear in Sao Paulo closed its 46th edition on Wednesday (November 25). Latin America's largest event for kids fashion anticipated the fall/winter trends of 64 brands and received about 4.000 trade visitors during the four days of the event.

International market leaders exhibited at FIT 0/16, amongst other well-known companies such as Animê, Authoria, Calvin Klein, Ellus Kids, Momi, Pituchinhus's, Pimpolho and Tommy Hilfiger. Despite the difficult economic situation in Brazil, the majority of the exhibiting brands reported business results beyond their expectations. Koelnmesse, a leading German trade fair organizer who took over the responsibility for FIT 0/16 from the founders of Interfeiras, Dieter Brockhausen and Humberto Rebonato, by this edition, is especially impressed by the commitment of the industry to the business platform. In close dialogue with the exhibitors Koelnmesse already discussed and identified strategic changes to further develop FIT 0/16 based on the feedback of the industry.

"We feel the need to make the event stronger. Therefore, it's our job to make the fair grow, together with the exhibitors. Our database features customers from all over the world. We aim to bring these customers to Brazil and offer them our services with the same expertise as in Germany," said Denis Steker, Koelnmesse's Vice-President International /Outbound Fairs.

Koelnmesse already announced novelties for the next editions, such as the creation of a special area inside the fair for smaller exhibitors who offer high quality products for children, as well as Business Rounds and scheduled meetings between exhibitors and trade visitors from different regions of Brazil and abroad.

The new management also announced that the fair is going to offer workshops and seminars by renowned professionals on topics that should interest retailers. "We believe that a fair should create special use for the professionals who take part in the event. In addition to making purchases, it's important to update on information and guidelines for improving the business," said Cassiano Facchinetti, Managing Director of Koelnmesse Brazil.

According to Majov Baby, from Santa Catarina, a company that manufactures diaper bags, taking part in FIT 0/16 is fundamental for their business. "We participate in FIT 0/16 to invest, to establish new contacts, and create customer loyalty," said Stela Steil, the brand's business supervisor. Newstar, a company that sells kids jewelry and that participates in the fair for the first time, has already signed up for another two editions. "We were very pleased with our first participation in the fair, we made several deals and new contacts. Expectations for the next edition are high," said Paulo Sergio Manieri, Newstar's business manager.

The fair's most important announcement was the launch of the Pueri Expo, an exhibition focusing on childcare products like its role model Kind + Jugend in Cologne, Germany, which will take place together with the 47th edition of the FIT 0/16 in June 2016. Childcare and Children Wear are complementary sectors in a large market that includes a wide range of products for the care and well-being of newborn babies and children. "We feel that Pueri Expo will add more value to FIT 0/16, as many shops that sell fashion for babies also offer products aimed at the first months of their life. It is therefore essential that the two sectors operate hand in hand," commented Denis Steker.

The fair's next edition takes place on June 3-6, 2016.

100 brands at the new trade fair duo in São Paulo

Everything for children:
100 brands at the new trade fair duo in São Paulo

•    Parallel: premiere format Pueri Expo and established FIT 0/16
•    Unique in the region: platform for all children's needs
•    Confirmed: 100 international and Brazilian brands
•    Exhibit without complications: participation in international pavilions

From 3 to 6 June 2016, a new trade fair duo celebrates its premiere in the Expo Center Norte of São Paulo: the international trade fair for baby and childcare products, Pueri Expo, taking place for the first time, complements the established trade show for baby and childcare wear FIT 0/16. Pueri Expo is an international satellite event of Kind+Jugend, the world's leading trade fair for children's and toddler outfitting at the Cologne trade fair location. According to the current registration status, the exhibiting companies represent more than 100 Brazilian and international brands in São Paulo; also participating are renowned companies like ABC Design, KidKraft, iPlays, Kids II, Trunki, Lilies & Roses NY and many others. They will present new products and innovations to trade visitors, from baby playsuits to teenage fashion, from carriers to children's room furnishings.

Koelnmesse, which is organising both events together with its Brazilian subsidiary, is anticipating a successful premiere for the trade fair duo, which is unique in South America: "The good registration status around three months prior to the event confirms the goal of Koelnmesse to establish a central business platform for all children and baby needs on the Brazilian market", says Denis Steker, Vice President International of Koelnmesse. "Koelnmesse is thus for the first time offering international companies the perfect starting point for activities in the promising Brazilian market for children's products. Koelnmesse also helps spontaneous decision makers with their trade fair participation, and thus with their market entry, for example with an organised group stand."

Good sales opportunities in Brazil
The sales opportunities in Brazil for international manufacturers and distributors are promising despite economic turbulence: the Brazilian market for children's outfitting, with a market volume of around 45 billion Euros, is the second largest worldwide and recently grew annually by around 15 percent. The worldwide imports of toys to Brazil have increased since 2008 by more than 47 percent in terms of quantity, and achieved a 2015 trade volume of 329 million US dollars; between 2014 and 2015 the import quantity of baby carriages and accessories increased by 36 percent and achieved a value of around 19.3 million US dollars. "In the children's fashion and outfitting segment, the Brazilian market, with its enormous potential, remains characterised by little competition", says Denis Steker, Vice President International of Koelnmesse. "This offers international manufacturers many chances, especially since they will meet all target groups in one location at the new trade fair duo, from children's shops and boutiques to major retail chains."

Range of offerings
Trade visitors will profit from the complementation of FIT 0/16: while the traditional trade fair will continue to show the trends for spring and summer fashion for children from infants to 16 years of age, the exhibitors of the premiere format Pueri Expo will present the complete range of toddler and children's outfitting, from furniture through children's car seats, carrying products and baby carriages through toys, books and items, from the child and baby safety segment to nursing accessories. FIT 0/16 continues to take place biannually in keeping with the collection rhythm and will be complemented by Pueri Expo for the June event. This means that Koelnmesse is establishing an annual comprehensive trade fair to address the needs of the Brazilian and Latin American retail trade. This generally offers end customers a product mix of children's fashion and outfitting.

Registered exhibitors
The registered exhibitors for Pueri Expo include internationally renowned companies presenting their brands and products. Also participating are ABC Design, KidKraft, iPlay, Kids II, Trunki, Ergobaby and Skip Hop. Numerous Brazilian manufacturers and trading companies have confirmed their participation, including Gumii, Book Brasil, Just Baby, Majov Baby, Peroba Mòveis, Quater Móveis, Zip Toys, Be Baby, Bugababy, Itté, High Trade and Oásis.

The most well-known brands of the Brazilian children's fashion industry will be represented at FIT 0/16. Fruto da Imaginação, Pimpolho, Inquérito, Authoria, Momi, Animê, Banana Danger, Pituchinhu´s, Luluzinha, Gabriela Aquarela, Charpey and Lilies & Roses NY have registered, among others.  The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade is also planning the participation of its own national fashion brands under the roof of a national pavilion.

FIT 0/16 AND PUERI EXPO: TOP RESULT FOR NEW TRADE FAIR DUO IN BRAZIL

FIT 0/16 and Pueri Expo:
Top result for new trade fair duo in Brazil

• 5,570 trade visitors from Brazil and South America
• 138 national and international brands exposed
• High level of satisfaction among visitors and exhibitors

Everything for children at one single place: The new trade fair duo FIT 0/16 and Pueri Expo is the new hotspot on South America’s market for baby and child products as the figures of the parallel staged trade fairs confirm. After closing the doors of the trade fair in Sao Paulo, the organizer Koelnmesse counted 5,750 trade visitors from Brazil and South America which experienced 138 national and international brands from the sectors kids fashion, childcare and toys. “I am happy that we reached to set up a successful premiere event inspired by our leading trade fair Kind + Jugend with a top result despite the difficult economic situation in Brazil”, says Gerald Böse, Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse GmbH. “The presence of high quality visitors from South America and international top brands plus the satisfaction among all trade fair participants show that we put the trade fair duo on the right track to become the leading platform of the sector in Latin America.” It was the first time that FIT 0/16 – The International Trade Show for Baby & Child Wear – and Pueri Expo – The International Trade Fair for Baby & Children Products – were organized simultaneously. South America’s biggest trade fair for baby and child products anticipated the spring/summer collections for 2017 in Brazil showcasing a lot of childcare and baby products launches during the four days of the event. Market leading fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger Kids, Calvin Klein Jeans and Authoria were exhibiting together with the childcare brands Kidkraft, Trunki, ABC Design and Ergobaby among others. The complementary concept of the trade fair duo was received very well by the visitors, since the retail stores offer all kind of product mixes around the kids universe. The highly professional supporting program facilitated the dialogue between visitors and experts from the sector.

The exhibitors of FIT 0/16 and Pueri Expo were very satisfied with the outcome of the trade fair: They praised both the number and in particular, the quality of the trade visitors as well as the amount of time the visitors spent at the fair. The positive response of the exhibitors confirms the concept of the trade fair of bringing together the demand of the top buyers of the Brazilian and South American market with the offer of international high quality products. Clayton Bittencourt, Sales Manager of Bambollina (exhibitor of FIT 0/16): “We are pretty happy with our first participation in the event. We could welcome a good customer flow at our booth. The buyers came from new sales regions all over Brazil and from other parts of South America, like Uruguay! We made new prospective clients, as it was our main goal.” Especially, the new trade fair Pueri Expo was received very well by exhibitors and visitors. Ana Carolina Itzaina, director of Oasis Importadora, was pleased meeting the most important visitors from Brazil at Pueri Expo: “I am very thankful because Koelnmesse brought visitors from every corner of Brazil to São Paulo, from Acre, Porto Alegre, Northeast. The visitors have decision-making power so it's very important we have contact with them.”

High quality visitors from Brazil and abroad
For the first time in the history of FIT 0/16, a lot of visitors came from nine countries outside of Brazil, for example from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Panama and Paraguay.

Thayane Ramalho, General Manager of Biramar (exhibitor at FIT 0/16): “We already knew Kind+Jugend, so our expectations were high. We were making a lot of new contacts, I just attended new clients from Uruguay and Portugal, something that never happened before, because international marketing was underexplored. We are exhibiting here for over 20 years, so we are sure that our partnership with the event now organized by Koelnmesse will continue.”

More exhibitor statements
Claudia Cipriani, Owner of Menina Rio (exhibitor at FIT 0/16): “We sent some of our new shoes to the stylist and all buyers came asking for the presented pieces, so that was a huge success! We had very busy and interesting days here, a lot of important buyers.”

Celso Portásio, Owner of Orbita Infantil (exhibitor at Pueri Expo) emphasized the good visitor quality: “It was a unique opportunity to participate in the fair, we had new access to buyers from several cities in Brazil, so I will for sure return next year”.

Peroba Móveis returned to the fair after a long time when they heard of the new organization. The representative Ari Graciano is happy with the results. “We gained several new retailers and the overturn is much better than we expected, excellent organized as well. We are already preparing to come to the next edition.”

Event program
The fair offered a new Trend Forum with free presentations to exhibitors and visitors with new insights to the local market and how to improve sales in child retail. Speakers from Usefashion and Sebrae presented their knowledge to the participants during all days of the event. In addition, the exhibitors had the services of consultants during the fair. Inteligência Voulez partnered with the event in a ‘Box Consultoria’ with speed dating like advice on how to modernize fashion brands and marketing. The exhibitors also received a training by consultant Fernando Lummertz how to make more use of the participation after the fair.

The next edition of FIT 0/16 is scheduled to take place
from 19 to 21 November 2016.
The next edition of the trade fair duo FIT 0/16 and Pueri Expo is scheduled to take place from 26 to 29 May 2017.
